I’d Die Without Chai – A Chaitorial

I remember my first chai latte like it was yesterday. The drink was sweet, spicy, bold and savory all at once. I’ve been making them myself since.

This is verrrrrry easy to make. Keep in mind I like to double brew my teas (2 at a time) because clearly I’m a former coffee addict and I need just that much caffeine to get me going. You can single or double brew as your heart contends. Alas, the chai-torial!

Oversized coffee mug or large beer glass (if enjoying over ice)

1 or 2 Bigelow Vanilla Chai Tea Bags

8 oz of water per tea bag (if you’re bad and bougie, use bottled water)

Light Brown Sugar (to taste)

4 oz milk (can be non-dairy; I use Silk Almond Milk)

Extra Creamy Whipped Cream

Ground Cinnamon

Drinking Straw (optional)

Step One: Pour boiling hot water over the tea bag(s); use 8 oz of water per tea bag. I’ll be honest, I pour water over my tea bags and pop into the microwave for 3:30 minutes because, millennial.

Step Two: Allow the tea to steep at least 15 minutes.

Step Three: Add sugar to taste. Tea should still have a strong, spicy flavor. Once you add the milk, it will cut the spice.

Step Four: Pour in 4 oz of milk.

If you wish to enjoy your beverage warm, skip to Step Seven.  Step Five: Refrigerate beverage for at least 30 minutes. The goal is to get the beverage room temperature so it won’t quickly melt the ice (and turn into a watery mess)!

Step Six: Add ice. Mix throughout beverage.

Step Seven: Add a cute lil, swirl of whipped cream. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Add your straw and voila!!!

I drink all teas with a straw because I want to refrain from staining my teeth.
