Milani Matte Lipstick Mania

Chanel Madmoiselle perfume, Juvia’s Place Palette, Milani Color Statement Matte Lipsticks all in a flatlayI was PRESSEDT to get my hands on matte lip colors at the height of the trend, but guess who was NOT about to spend $20 per lip color to build her collection? *points to self* After perusing YouTube for some reviews, I heard about Milani Amore Matte liquid lip colors. Unfortunately, they were YouTube famous and sold out everywhere. Luckily, Milani makes a matte lipstick also. I tried one, fell in love with the formula, and I have been proudly puckering (and adding to my collection) ever since!

In the photo above, I am wearing Matte Iconic with a brown Rimmel Lip Pencil (both linked below).

When I wear a nude lip (and some reds), I line my lips with a brown lip pencil. I usually grab Coffee Bean by Rimmel, but you can experiment with various shades of brown and muted deep pinks to create different looks. Below is how I line my lips. Notice that on the corners I tend to shade in a bit more; this creates a more natural ombré gradiant once the lipstick is applied.

Below, I used Cafe Au Lait by Rimmel and it looks like I have an entirely new lip color, but nope; change ya pencil, change ya LIFE!

(Side note: Rimmel is very famous for “discontinuing” products but they’re actually just rebranded. Cafe Au Lait apparently is the same as Zanzero)

I love to create new looks with light layers. I’ve created my perfect red lip by layering Matte Iconic atop Matte Elegance.

I also have a more dimensional nude lip with I add Matte Innocence to the center of Matte Naked.

Please pardon my chin zit. My cycle just won’t let me be great.

I gravitate towards this lipstick because of the formula; it’s more of a semi-matte. It’s creamy upon first application and dries down to a soft velvet finish. My lips never feel powdery and the texture keeps the color bold, yet muted. If you prefer a true, dry, non-transferable lip product, try the version in the tube. The colors are very similar (if not identical).

I’ve linked all of the products within this article but you can also pick up these fantastic products at your local drugstores.

LOVE the Milani Matte Lippies! I own almost every color! they are great because when you leave them in your purse and accidentally lose one…. you don’t feel HORRIBLE like you do when you lose a $20 lippie! lol

Have you tried NYX liquid lipsticks? BOMB! 🙂

Oh???? I’m intrigued! I will definitely check out this brand on my next excursion to Walgreens. Wet N’ Wild makes my all time favorite highlighter so I’m excited! 💕 Thanks for the lip tip!

I like the “Iconic” on you,, it’s perfect for you ( I can sense a sensitive yet powerful woman behind that lipstick, lol). Seriously, it is ideal for your complexion. I need to get me some MILANI lipstick now, in a mauvey-brownish-pinky shade. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Tomorrow my daughter Lauren and I are going to hit up the K Beauty store in Sacramento. We have never been there before so we are super excited! I know you can understand this. In a world full of such negative bullshit it’s good to have a little lipstick therapy.
