Seriously, how much money is a jar of guacamole??! In my neck of the woods, you’re not getting the green stuff for less than $6 a tube and it’s usually not even that good. Are you ready for an explosion of flavor? This guacamole recipe is robust, fresh, sans preservatives, and most importantly, super easy to make! You will need:
- 2 large or 3 medium ripe Hass avocados
- 1/2 medium yellow onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 large Roma tomato
- 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 dashes of cayenne pepper (you can use less if you prefer less spicy)
- 4 tablespoons lime juice

Prep.
Let’s begin by peeling the onion and garlic cloves, washing the tomato, and washing the cilantro. Next, let’s dice the onion, garlic, and tomato into 1/8 inch pieces. Set aside. Remove cilantro leaves from stems and finely chop. Set aside.

Mix.
Remove the avocado skin and pit; place the avocado flesh into a large bowl. Toss in onion, tomato, garlic, and cilantro. Add cumin, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, chili powder, lime juice. Combine all ingredients (season to taste if necessary).
Serve.
Serves 2-3. For best results, prepare and serve fresh. For extra razzle dazzle, you can garnish with freshly chopped jalepeños or spring onions!

There you have it, folks! With just a few minutes of prep time and a few dollars worth of ingredients, you can make your own better tasting guacamole! Feel free to tweak the ingredient measurements to your liking! If you’re unable to finish in one setting, it’s okay to refrigerate. Please note that the avocado will oxidize and turn brown. The dish is ugly, but still edible and quite tasty (for up to 3 days in the refrigerator).

I have a few ripe avocados and I literally might make this tomorrow! Unfortunately, I don’t actually have tomatoes but hopefully it won’t break the entire recipe! This sounds so good right now!
